As you may know, I'm not exclusively a portrait or wedding photographer. I'll photograph anything - I truly enjoy doing it all. But, when I had the chance to take photos for my favorite band - for two nights of their reunion tour - I certainly had to adjust to the situation.
I've been a fan of Dispatch since 2004, right after they disbanded. I had the opportunity to see them in 2007 for 2 nights at Madison Square Garden. This was my first opportunity to see them since, and having two nights in a row to photograph them mere inches away was beyond words. Below are some of my favorite photos I took from the evening. I'll try to give a little description for each. Also, don't forget to check them out at the link above.
So the guys "opened" for themselves with wigs and with a cheesy British accent :-). Many were fooled in the crowd, but I think it was a great little prank. |
Braddigan surprised me in the press pit. He gave the fans a chance to chime in. |
And Braddigan takes a turn at the mic. |
Chad rocking out. Gotta love the chucks. |
Chad giving some love to the older mic. Gives a great sound. |
The guys doing their thing. Great to see the chemistry is still there. |
Pete crowd surfing and rocking the Bruins jersey following their Stanley Cup win. |
Pete and "Craigy D." During the outro to "Here We Go." First time this was live since Somerville Theatre in 2004. Awesome. |
The old 1970's mic during "Con Man." Featured in a photo a few above this. |
Pete singing to the crowd. Love the lighting in this one. |
Liked it so much I thought I'd give Chad the same treatment. |
Chad signaling to the crowd while Pete urges him in during "Bats in the Belfry." |
...and into a jam. |
Chad bellowing out... |
Braddigan on the kit. Loved the cymbals and all the metal on the drums in this one. |
Pete - slappin' da bass. Well not really slappin' - but jamming out. |
I'll end with this one - another one of my favorites. Chad's signature 'fro and all the members playing together like the old days....can't beat it. |
